IMPLEMENTATION OF STAGE 1: WATER RESTRICTIONS IN THE HESSEQUA AREA
The Water Bylaw of Hessequa Municipality indicates that the municipality may by public notice to prevent wasteful use of water or in the event of a water shortage, drought or flood: prohibit or restrict the consumption of water in the whole or part of its area of jurisdiction in general or for –
(i) specified purposes;
(ii) during specified hours of the day or on specified days; and
(iii) in a specified manner; and
(b) determine and impose –
(i) limits on the quantity of water that may be consumed over a specified period;
Stage 1 Water Restrtiction will be implemented from 1 September 2017 and will be regulated in terms of the Water & Sanitation Bylaw:
- Gardens may only be watered between 16h00 – 18h00.
- Sprayers may be used, but water hoses may not be used without supervision.
- Hosing down of paving and cement surfaces are not permitted.
- Washing of vehicles/boats/caravans will be allowed by means of a bucket.
